A look at Avatar

I finally got a chance to see Avatar yesterday.

I went to see it in 3D, this was the 1st film I have watched in 3D and I did have expectations of it. Most were lived up to :)

The story is familiar, an 'outsider' comes to a new land, learns about the locals, befriends some of them and is then seen to have betrayed them. And finally redeems themselves. This story has been done many times before and will undoubtedly be done again and again.

Slumdog Millionaire

So I finally watched this film on TV tonight, and I can't see what the hype about it was based on.

To me it seemed a very mediocre film; nothing groundbreaking or new was covered.

My main criticism was the subtitles though, far too small and the wrong colour in most scenes. I was watching the film on a 42" HD TV and I had difficulty Reading them a lot of the time (I watch a lot of Japanese animation with subs with no problem)

Very glad I did not pay to see this in the cinema and I will not be buying it.

On another note, I am looking forward to the new Iron Man film :)

Star Trek (2009) Review

Many months ago I saw Star Trek in the cinema, I posted a review onto Rotten Tomatoes about it, and have decided to post it here also.

The new Star Trek film, I am not old enough to remember the original films and series’ but I do recall watching some of the reruns during my childhood with awe, so when this film was announced I was skeptical, often it appears that remakes and story continuation are there simply as a ploy to extract as much money as possible from the public.
